Plasma membrane of bacterial cell has receptor for the attachment of ribosomes, chromosomes. Mesosome connects plasma membrane with the nucleoid which helps in distribution of chromosomes to daughter cell by replication, helps in respiration due to the presence of enzymes of electron transport chain, helps in cell wall material synthesis. Fixed ribosomes are attached to the membrane and synthesises proteins.

Beta barrel protein consist of long chain of antiparallel secondary structure of protein called beta sheet that twists around and forms hydrogen bond between initial strand and last strand. If beta barrel has 16 stranded beta sheet it is called 16 stranded beta barrel proteins which makes bacterial porins.
