3. What was the misbelief about the theory of motion before Newtonian motion theory?

Why was it overruled?

The misbelieves before Galileo (not Newton) were due to Aristotle, were.

1. For a body to be in constant motion a constant force is necessary.

2. A heavier body falls faster than an light body under free fall.

3. Laws of science was different for heaven (space) and earth.

It was overruled because

1. Galileo showed with inclined plane experiments that bodies move without needing constant  force.

2. Galileo found heaver and lighter body falls at the same time under free fall if the air resistance in neglected.

3. Newton could apply laws applicable for earthly objects to justify Kepler’s laws of planetary motion.
