Iswaran was extremely useful to Mahendra: he cooked for him, washed his clothes, and chatted with him at night. He was a great storyteller. He was resourceful with an ability to produce cooking ingredients out of nowhere and would cook the most delicious dishes made with fresh vegetables within an hour of arriving at the new workplace.
