8:- Two parallel chord AB and CD are3.9cm apart and lie on the opposite sides of the centre of a circle .
If AB = 1.4 cm and CD=4cm , Find the radius of the circle .

Hi,

We know that perpendicular from the center bisec chord so CM = 2 cm and AN= 0.7 cm so let MO= x so ON= 3.9 - xnow radius will be same so using pythagorus theorem in triangle CMO and ONMCO2 = OA222+x2= 3.9-x2+0.49 4+x2= 15.21+x2-7.8x +0.49  using x-y2= x2+y2-2xy7.8x = 11.7 x = 1.5 so in triangle CMO CO= radius = x2+4= 2.25+4= 2.5 cm
