a 10 uF capacitor is charged to a potential difference of 50V and is connected to another uncharged capacitor in parallel. now the common potential difference becomes 20 volt. the capacitance of second capacitor is =?

Solution:

  • 14

The formula for common potential is

V= (C1.V1+ C2.V2)/ C1+C2

Here, V=20V, C1= 10*10^ -6 F, V1= 50V, C2+ ?

Here the second capacitor is uncharged... Thus if v take its potential to b zero.. thus, V2=0

Substituting the values in the formula, v get:

C2=15 uF

Hope this ll b the correct answer.. Gud luck... :))))))
