A 5 digit number is formed by the digits 1,2,3,4,5 without repitition . Find the probability that the number formed by 2 ?

We have to form a number using digits 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 without repetition which must be divisible by 2.

Since it is a five digit number, so we have to fill five places.

Since, the number is to be divisible by 2, so at the ones place, we can fill the ones place by using the digits 2 or 4.

So, the choices for ones place = 2.

Now, for filling the tens place, we have four options, for filling the hundreds place we have 3 options, for filling the thousands place, we have 2 options and for filling the ten thousands place, we have one option.

So, the number of such numbers = 1 × 2 × 3 × 4 × 2 = 48.

The total number of numbers that can be formed by digits 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 without repetition is 5! = 120
