y7 + x=17, ∵Left end divides the line segment in the ratio 1:7⇒7y = 7 + x⇒x - 7y = -7 ---(i)x7 + y=35, ∵Right end divides the line segment in the ratio 3:5⇒5x = 21 + 3y ⇒5x - 3y = 21----(ii)Solving (i) and (ii)
 We get:x =5 25 and y = 1
75So, Length of the line segment = 5
25 + 7  + 1
75 = 14 cm
