a ball falling in a lake of depth 200m shows 0.1 percent decrease in its volume at the bottom. what is the bulk modulus of the material of the ball.

hi  Anil Narang

Please find below the solution to the asked query:

as we know,
bulk modulus is given as:

B =- ΔpΔvv

so,

Taking density of water to be φ=  1000m3and Acceleration due to gravity g = 10 m/s2and depth below the water h = 200mso total pressures at that depth is  = atmostpheric presseure +  φghchange in pressure = φghΔP  =  1000 × 10× 200  =  20 × 105 N/m2 = 20× 105 N/m2 and given Δvv=- 0.1substituting these values in the equation of bulk modulusso B = -20 × 105-0.1 = 20 × 106 N/m2

this is the given bulk modulus of the material
