A ball of mass 5kg is dropped from a tower of height 2 meters. what is its kinetic energy half way down?

please give the answer before 29/11/2013.

I suppose you mean potential energy as you haven't given any velocity but height.

Mass= 5g

Height = 2m

Let g= 10 ( you may also take g= 9.8)

Potential energy= mgh

= 5*10*2

= 50*2

=100J

Potential energy half way down= potential energy/2

= 100/2

= 50J

Thumbs up plz!!!!!

It will be potential as there is no velocity is given.

So, if it is potential energy then......

Mass= 5g

Height = 2m

Let g= 10 ( you may also take g= 9.8)

Potential energy= mgh

= 5*10*2

= 50*2

=100J

Potential energy half way down= potential energy/2

= 100/2

= 50J

you have to find the velocity

50joules
  • 0

given that
mass= 5 kg
height= 2/2 (as it is halfway through) 1 m
let g= 10 m/s2

Using Newton's third law of motion
v2-u2=2gh (initial velocity will be 0)

v2= 2*10*1=20

Kinetic Energy= 1/2mv2
1/2 * 5 * 20 *  = 50 joules
