a block of mass 2 kg is on a horizontal surface the coefficient of static and kinetic friction are 0.6 and 0.2.the minimum horizontal force required to start the motion is applied and if it is continued the velocity acquried by the body is at the end of the 2nd second is?

Dear Student,

GIVEN:

M= 2 Kg, μS=0.6   and μK=0.2
To get the body moving one has to overcome the threshold of static friction( min force required to move the body)

Fs=μSN   = μSMg

= 0.6 x 2 x 10
= 12 N

Now once the body starts moving, Force required to overcome kinetic friction

FK=μKN  = μKMg = 0.2 ×2 × 10=4 NNet Force acting on the Body= Applied force - Force required to overcome kinetic friction= 12 - 4 = 8 NF= Ma  or a = 82  = 4 m/s2From v=u + at for initial velocity was 0 after 2 sec we have velocity as v= at =4 x 2 =8 m/s
Regards.
