A body weighs 1 kg on the surface of the moon.If the mass of the moon is 7.4*10 power 22  kg,the radius pf moon is 1740 km and the gravitational constant 6.67*10 power -11 Nm power 2 *kg power -2,calculate a) the force acting on the i)body ii)moon b)the acceleration produced in the object c)the acceleration produced in the moon

We have,

Mass of the body is, m = 1 kg

Mass of moon is, M = 7.4 × 1022 kg

Radius of moon, R = 1740 km = 1740000 m

G = 6.67 × 10-11 Nm2/kg2

Now,

Force acting on the body is,

F = GMm/R2 = 1.63 N

Same is the force acting on the moon.

Acceleration produced on the body is found as,

F = ma

=> a = F/m = 1.63/1 = 1.63 m/s2

Acceleration produced on the moon,

F = Ma/

=> a/ = F/M = 1.63/(7.4 × 1022)  = 2.2 × 10-23 m/s2.
