A) Both assertion and reason are true and Reason is the correct explanation of assertion
B) Both assertion and reason are true but reason is not the correct explanation of assertion
C) Assertion is true but Reason is false
D) Assertion is false but Reason is true

Dear student,

The acidification of water increases its conductivity during electrolysis. The concentration of ions in pure water is very low, hence it will act as a poor conductor of electricity but when sulphuric acid is added (acidification is done) that ionize completely to give hydrogen ions in the solution and the conductivity also increases.

H+ ions are released in this case but this will not hinder the flow of charges, it will promote the flow of charges such that acidification leads to increasing the conductivity.

Hence, both assertion and reason are incorrect.

Regards
