A car A of mass 1500kg  travelling at 25m/s collids with another car B of mass 1000kg travelling at 15m/s in the same direction after collition the velocity of car A becomes 20m/s calcullate the velocity of car B after collition.

Hello,

This problem can be solved using the law of conservation of momentum.
Total momentum of the system before collision = Total momentum of the system after collision

(Momentum = mass Х velocity)
Momentum of car A before collision = 1500 Х 25 = 37500 Kg m/s
Momentum of car B before collision = 1000 Х 15 = 15000 Kg m/s
Total momentum before collision = 37500 + 15000 = 52500 Kg m/s

Momentum of car A after collision = 1500 Х 20 = 30000 Kg m/s
Momentum of car B after collision = 1000 Х v = 1000v Kg m/s (v is the velocity of B after collision)
Total momentum after collision = (30000 + 1000v) Kg m/s

Hope this helps,
