A cell which has completed dna replication but fails to enter M phase where mitosis takes place then the cell gets arrested at G₀ stage or quiescent phase. During G₀ phase the cell is withdrawn from the cell cycle. The nucleus and the cell have undergone differentiation and cannot divide furthur.
