A CHORD OF CIRCLE OF RADIUS 28CM SUBTENDS AN ANGLE OF 45* AT THE CENTRE OF THE CIRCLE. FIND THE AREA OF THE MINOR SEGMENT.

easy....

Let, AB be the chord and O be the centre of the circle

Now, firstly

Area of sector OAB = 45/360 x pi x (28)2 = 1/8 x 22/7 x 28 x 28 =308 cm2

Again,

Area of triangle OAB = 1/2 x r2 x sin450 = 1/2 x (28)2 x 1/root(2) = 277.144 cm2

Now, area of minor segment = Area of sector OAB - Area of triangle OAB = 308 - 277.144 = 30.856 cm2 (Is that the answer??)

:P
