A current of 1 ampere flows in a series circuit containing an electric lamp and a conductor of 5 when connected to a 10 v battery. Calculate the resistance of the electric lamp. Now if a resistance of 10 is connected in parallel with this series combination, what change (if any) in current flowing through 5 conductor and potential difference across the lamp will take place? Give reason. Draw circuit diagram.

Dear Student!!

B is lamp.

When both are connected in series,

I = 1 A

Using Ohm's law,

is the resistance of the lamp.

when a 10 ohm resistance is connected in parallel,

Total resistance is ,

Current in parallel connection,

Current through the first branch will remains same as V is same.

Voltage across the lamp will not change.
