- Haiku is a type of short poetry. It originated in Japan.
- The poetry should consist of three lines, a cutting word (kireji) and a seasonal reference (kigo).
- The lines should not rhyme.
- You can refer to poems by Yosa Buson, Matsuo Basho, Kobayashi Issa and Masaoka Shiki who are known as "the Great Four".
- The Haiku poem follows a 5-7-5 syllable structure.
