lights each of 40W are used simultaneously Find: I) current drawn
from the mains of 220V and ii) number of additional bulbs each of
100W which can also be lighted on a festival day

i)total power,P=5×60+2×40=380 Wvoltage of mains,V=220Vcurrent drawn from the mains,I=PV=380220=1
73Aii)excess current available which can be safely used=5-1
73=3
27Acurrent drawn by each 100 W bulb at 220 V,I=100220=0
45Anumber of 100 bulbs which can be lighted on a festival day,n=3
270 45=7
3≈7so,7 more bulbs can be  lighted
