A ladder of length 13m was kept at a distance of 5mfrom the building to reach a window on a building.At what height is the window from the ground.?

Solution:

Length of the ladder = 13 m

Distance of ladder from the wall = 5 m.

Height of the window = ?

As per Pythagoras theorem

Hypotenuse2 = Base2 + Perpendicular2.

Perpendicular2 = Hypotenuse2 - Base2

Here Base = 5 m and hypotenuse = 13 m.

So Perpendicular = √Hypotenuse2 - Base2

Perpendicular = √132 - 52 = √169  - 25 = √144 = 12 mts

So the height of the window = 12 mt

  • 3
it suggests that it is forming a right angle triangle
so    the answer would be 12meter
