A lawn is rectangular in the middle and it has semicircular portions along the shorter sides of the rectangle. The rectangular portion measures 50m by 35m. Find the area of the lawn.

if there are semicircular portions along the shorter side then the diameter will be 35m and radius 35/2m i.e.17.5m.
area of lawn= area of rectangle + area of 2 semicircular portions
area= l*b+ 2*pie*r2/2
=50*35+3.14*17.52
=2711.625m2
so the area of the lawn is 2711.6m2
