salary given t0 elder son = 35%

salary given to younger son = 40 %

it is given that he is left with rs 23400 which is 25% of his salary

so let his orignal salary be X

23400 = x - (x * 25/100)

23400 = x - 25x/100

23400 = 100x - 25x /100

23400= 75x /100

x = 23400 * 100 / 75

after cutting u get

7800 * 4

= rs 31200

so his orignal salary was rs 31200

ANS: Let the salary earned by the man be x

So he gave  to the elder son  = 35% of x

He is left with ( x-35x/100)= 65x/100

The salary given to younger son is (65x/100 )(40/100)=26x/100

He is left with 65x/100 -26x/100 =39x/100

It is given that he is left with Rs 23400 = 39x/100

Therefore39x/100 = 23400

ð  X = 23400*100/39 =Rs 60000

Therefore, he had originally Rs 60000
