A man takes a step forward with probability of 0.4 and backwards with probability of 0.6.Find probability that at the end of eleven steps, he is just one step away from the starting point..

hint : he is one step away IF -

a) he took 6 steps forward and 5 backwards

OR

b) he took 5 steps forward and 6 backwards

now both those probabilities are added,

HOW TO FIND THOSE PROBABILITIES YOU ASK?

simple! ... the steps can be taken in ANY ORDER so we use Bernolli trials.. you know n = 11. you know p = 0.6 or 0.4 depends on a) or b) .... you know q = 1-p ...... you know r in both cases... so try it yourself....P.S - you do not have to simplify the answer in points... so just leave it example - 5(0.6)^4 etc
