A man travels 3/8 of his journey by train, 3/5 of his journey by bus and walks the rest of the distance. If he walks 2km, how much distance did he travel by bus

Solution:

Let us assume that the total distance travelled by the man = D

The distance travelled by train = 3/8 of D

The distance travelled by bus = 3/5 of D

Then the equation we get:

3D/8 + 3D/5 + 2 = D

5x3D + 8x3D + 40x2 = D

            40

15D + 24D + 80 = 40D

15D + 24D - 40D = -80

-D = -80

D = 80

Ans: The man travelled 80 Kms.
