a metallic cuboid of mass 9 kg and dimensions 5cm x 8cm x 25cm is placed on a table to ezert pressure on its surface.if g=10 m/s2 , the maximum pressure which can be achieved by the cuboid is ___________

plz explain the answer

@Nikhil, Your friend yatharth apply the right concept but there is little mistake in calculation.

Option (2) is correct.

@Nikhil, Good effort. Keep it up!

 First Look for the Minimum Area

So we get

5cm x 8cm = 40cm2

Pressure= Thrust/ Area

  = (9kg x 10m/s) / 40

  = 9/4  N/m

See,

1st u will have to see...which side will have have smallest area...coz if Area is less...Pressure will be more..
i.e. 5cm x 8cm

P = thrust / area

P = 9 x 10 / 0.05 x 0.08       (convertin cm = m )

P = 90/ 0.00004

P= 9000000/4
P= 2250000 Pa
i.e. Maximum pressure that can be exerted by the cuboid

but friend the options are

1.45000 Pa

2.22500 Pa

3.4500 Pa

4.2250 Pa
