A n agricultural field is in the form of a rectangle of length 20m and width 14m.A pit 6m long and 3m wide and 2.5m deep is dug in the corner of the field and the earth taken out of thre pit is spread uniformly over the remaining area of the field.find the extent to which the level of the field has been raised..

Length of rectangular field = 20m

Breadth of rectangular field = 14m

Length of pit = 6m

Breadth of pit = 3m

height of pit = 2.5m

Volume of earth taken out = Volume of pit

= l × b × h

= 6 × 3 × 2.5

= 45.0 m3

Area of rectangular field = l × b

= 20 × 14

= 280 m2

Area of base of pit = l × b

= 6 × 3

= 18 m2

Area of remaining portion of rectangular field = Area of rectangular field – Area of base of pit

= 280 – 18 m2

= 262 m2

Let the rise in the level of field be h metres

Area of remaining field × h = Volume of pit
