A particle moves along the side of a square of length L starting from A and reaches the opposite corners of sea by travelling from a to b and b to C if the time taken is t find the average velocity of the particle

Dear student,

Average velocity = Total displacement / time taken
Given
length of square side =L
time taken= t

The key point to remember in this question is difference between distance and displacement (distance is total length travelled while displacement is the length between initial and final point )
Now ,
As the particle travelled from A to B,then B to C
Initial point A and final point C.
Length between A(initial) and C(final) is length of the diagonal of square which is   L2 .
Thus
Average velocity is given by=total displacement / time taken
=L2 / t
