a pile of one rupee coins remains intact when the lowest point in the pile is struck quickly by a knife. give reason

This happens on account of inertia of rest of the coins piled over one another. The lowermost coin under the pile of coins comes into state of motion when it is struck by a knife and hence the pile of coins remains intact when the lowermost coin flew away.
