a population of 1500 individuals is experiencing exponential growth if 135 births and 45 deaths occur in one year the intrinsic rate of natural increase of that population is ?

Dear student,

We know that there are 135 births in the population over the month, in our population of 1500 individuals; we can express this as a rate by doing the following:

Birth rate = 135/1500 = 0.09 births/(indiv. x year)

Using the same logic…

Death rate = 45/1500 = 0.03 deaths/(indiv. x year)

instrinsic rate of increase (r) = birth rate - death rate = 0.09 - 0.03 = 0.06
