A rectangle has length that is 6 cm more than the withd. Its perimeter is 100cm. What is the area?
Dear Student,
Let the width be 'x'
now the length = x+6
Perimeter = 2( length + width)
=> 100 = 2( x + 6 + x)
=> 100 = 2( 2x + 6)
=> 100 = 4x + 12
=> 100 - 12 = 4x
=> 4x = 88
=> x = 88/4
=> x = 22
Hence , width = 22cm
Length = 22 + 6 = 28 cm
Area = length × breadth = 28 × 22 = 616 cm²
