A right Triangle ABC, circumscribes a circle of radius r, If AB and BC are of lenghts 8cm and 6cm respectively, find the value of r.

Let ABC be the right angled triangle such that ∠B = 90° , BC = 6 cm, AB = 8 cm. Let O be the centre and rbe the radius of the incircle.

AB, BC and CA are tangents to the circle at P, N and M.

∴ OP = ON = OM = r (radius of the circle)

By Pythagoras theorem,

 CA2 = AB2 + BC2

 ⇒ CA2 = 82 + 62

⇒ CA2 = 100

⇒ CA = 10 cm

Area of ∆ABC = Area ∆OAB + Area ∆OBC + Area ∆OCA

i have a doubt why ab+bc+ca is coming down in divison , if we put it up ad substitute it comes like 24/48 and answer totally changes as 0.5

Hey guys!! There is a easier way to answer this question .... After you find the length of hypotenuse ... Use this formula... (a+b-c)/2 where c represnts hypotenuse and a,b represents other two sides For example, (8+6-10)/2=(14-10)/2=4/2=2 So therefore the answer i.e. the radius of 2cm
