1. A shopkeeper offers his customers 10% discount and still makes a profit of 26%. What is the actual cost of an article marked Rs 280?
  2. A person sells an article for Rs 550, gaining 1/10  of its C.P. Find gain%.

plzz answer these.,!!

 1. The the C.P. (actual cost) be n.

 Marked price = Rs.280

  According to the question, if the shopkeeper offers 10% discount on Rs.280, he makes a profit of 26% on n.

 26% of n = 26/100 x n = 26n/100

 Gain of 20% on n = n + 26n/100

 Next, 10% of 280 = 28. 10% off on 280 = Rs.280 - Rs.28 = Rs.252.

 According to the question,

  252 = n + 26n/100

=> 252 = 100n + 26n

  100

=> 252 = 126n/100  next, we will do cross-multiplication.

=> 126n = 252 x 100

=> 126n = 25200

=> n = 25200/126

=> n = 200

 Therefore, the C.P. of the article is Rs.200

2.  Let C.P. of the article be n.

  Given,

  S.P. = Rs.550

  Gain amount = 1/10 of n or n/10

  Gain of 1/10 of n on n = n + n/10

  According to the question,

 550 = n + n/10

=> 550 = 10n + n

  100

=> 550 = 11n/10  next, we will do cross multiplication.

=> 11n = 550 x 10

=> 11n = 5500

=> n = 5500/11

=> n = 500

 Therefore, the C.P. of the article is Rs.500

 The person sold it for Rs.550

 Gain amont = Rs.550  - Rs.500 = Rs.50

 Gain percent = 50/500 x 100 = 10%

 Therefore, the gain percent is 10%
