A short answer on delhi sultans

1. Qutb-ud-din Aibak founded the Delhi Sultanate. He raised a well trained army and established his rule over entire North India.
2. The Delhi Sultanate started in 1192 A.D. Its territorial expansion went beyond North India. Qutb-ud- din Aibak was the first sultan of Delhi who conquered large areas of northern India.
3. The Delhi Sultanate lasted in India from 1206 to 1526 AD.They made Delhi as their capital so they were called the Delhi Sultans.
4. The Delhi sultanate were mostly based in Delhi, and gradually expanded their control over Indian subcontinent. Some important Delhi sultans were Illtutmish, Alauddin Khiljai and Sikander Lodi.
5. The area of Delhi to Benaras was under the influence of the Lodi dynasty.
