The overall dimension including frame: add 5 cm to the length and width Frame area = Overall area - slate area Fa = (35*30) - (30*25) Fa = 1050 - 750 Fa = 300 sq/cm is the area of the frame

Area of Slate = l x b
                      = 30 x 25
                       = 750 cm square
Area of Slate with Wooden Frame = l x b
                                                       = (30 + 2.5 + 2.5 ) x (25 + 2.5 + 2.5)
                                                        = 35 x 30
                                                        = 1050 cm square
Area of Wooden frame/ colored portion = A ( Slate ) - A ( Slate with wooden frame )
                                     = 1050 - 750
                                     = 300 cm square
