A tank 5m high is half filled with water and then is filled to the top with oil of density 0.85 g/cm3. The pressure at the bottom of the bottom of the tank, due to these liquids is

a)1.85 dyne/cm2  b)89.25 dyne/cm2  c)462.5 dyne/cm2  d)500 dyne/cm2

Hello,

Pressure at the bottom of the tank(P)

= pressure by water level  + pressure by the oil

= h 1 d1 g + h2 d2

Given that

 h1 = h2  = 2.5m = 250 cm

d1  = 1 g/cm3

d 2  = 0.85 g/cm3

g = 981 m/s2

P = 981(1*250 + 0.85*250)

=> P = 981*250*1.85

=> P = 453712.5 dyn/cm2

Sorry no option is matched here.

Please check the variables given. Then use this formula.

answer for dis one is..

pressure at th ebottom

P = (h1+d1+h2 +d2)

 =( 250 x 1 + 250 x 0.85 )

 == 250 ( 1.85)

=== 462.5 dyne / cm2

thumbs up plss.....i wrote on my own...

Sorry expert, it's a wrong answer.

Hai, sindhubhatia(nice profile pic). Right answer. I knew the answer. I just needed the method. But the pressure due to a fluid column id hdg and not hd.
