A toy is in the form of a cone mounted on a hemisphere of diameter 7cm. If the base radii of both hemisphere and cone is same and the total height of the toy is 14.5 cm, find the volume and total surface area of toy

the diameter of the common base of the cone and hemisphere  is 7 cm.

therefore radius of the cone is r = 7/2=3.5 cm

the total height of the toy is 14.5 cm.

therefore the height of the cone be h= 14.5-3.5=11 cm

the surface area of the hemisphere is

therefore the curved surface area of the cone is

therefore the total surface area of the toy 

= surface area of the hemisphere + curved surface area of the cone

= 77 + 126.94 = 203.94 sq cm

 

volume of the toy = volume of the hemisphere + volume of the cone

=89.83+141.17

=231 cubic cm
