Fleming's Left hand Rule is used in this
situation
Holding the three mutually perpendicular fingers of Left Hand, we
get the following:
Fore Finger: Points in Direction of Magnetic Field
(Upwards)
Middle Finger: Points in Direction of Current
(East)
Thumb: Points in Direction of Force
(Southwards)
Hence, it is clear that the Alpha-particle has to be
projected towards East
