Dear student,
Please find below the solution to the asked query

a. Adverse effects of modern farming are:
  • Modern farming is capital extensive that is it requires a lot of money and so is possible to be practised only by rich or wealthy farmers.
  • The fertilisers used in modern farming reduce the fertility of the soil over a long period of time.
  • Pesticides and insecticides used pollute the water bodies and land largely.
b. When normal composition of soil is contaminated through several human activities like industrial wastes, pesticides, harmful chemicals, dump wastes etc it is termed as soil pollution. Soil pollution degrades the quality of soil, its fertility decreases due to death of microorganisms present in the soil.
