A wire   of length 1m 20cm is cut into equal pieces.One piece is bent to form a square and the other one is bent to form a rectangle of length 22cm.Compare the areas of the rectangle and the square formed.

square area = 60 cm/4
= 60/4
=15
side of the square = 15 cm
area of a square = side*side
= 15*15
= 225
The area of the square is 225 sq. cm.

area of the rectangle can be figured out by equating 60 cm to 2( 22+b)
60 = 2( 22+b)
60 = 44+ 2b
2b = 60-44
2b= 16
b = 8

length = 22 cm
breadth= 8 cm

area of a rectangle = length*breadth
=22*8
176 square cm.

area of square = 225 sq. cm.
area of rectangle = 176 sq. cm.
