Acc to 2n sqr. We can store 2,8,18,32 electrons but we generally store 8 electrons in M shell? Why so? Give complete reason in simple words.

Dear student. The electrons are filled in the shells in the order of K, L, M. So, since the K and L shell can collectively hold 2+8=10electrons, so electrons start to occupy M she'll, only for configuration 11-18. The element with atomic number 18, thus has only 8 electrons available to be filled in the M shell and we generally deal with elements upto atomic number 20. This is why we often see elements having 8 electrons in M shelll. Regards
