acid rain is caused when emissions from cars, factories, burning or heatings containing nitrogen oxides, sulphur dioxides and sulphur trioxides come in contact with the water vapour present in the air. These react with water vapour to form substances like nitric acid, sulphurous acid and sulphuric acid which drop down on the earth as acid rain.
