Advantages: 
1. Systematic Study
2. Storehouse for future
3. Preservation of Plants
4. Quick referral system
5. Helps in proper identification
6. Important taxonomical aid
7. Description of species
8. Helps to know  about biodiversity
Disadvantages: 
1, No living plants only dead (preserved)
2. Samples have to be checked regularly
3. Samples may get destroyed to attack of insects
4. No relation with animals
5. System of arranging is difficult
6. Herbarium sheets get easily torn
7. Very less in number
