Alkenes readily undergo addition of hydrogen to hibe corresponding?

Dear Student,
The addition of hydrogen on alkenes is called hydrogenation which gives us corresponding alkanes with same number of carbon atom. So the double bond in alkenes convert to saturated alkane. This addition reaction on alkene occurs readily due to the presence of catalyst like finely divided nickel, platinum or palladium and heated under pressure which enhances the rate of reaction.
