All the positive terminals of sources of emf are joined at point A of potentiometer, where the given primary cell is connected whose internal resistance is to be measured. But if all the negative terminals of sources of emf are joined at point A then how will the balance length be affected?

Dear Student,
Please find below the solution to the asked query:
  •  If all negative terminals are connected together to point A, then emfs of primary and secondary circuits will be added up  no null point or balanced point is obtained.
  • As a result, the deflection of galvanometer always shows reading in a single direction.
