Aluminium is a highly electropositivemetal but still its oxides can be acidic. Why? If metallic character increase the basicity, then why there are chances of acidic oxides of Aluminium?
Dear Kshitij Gaur,
The oxide of Al i.e. Al2O3 is amphoteric in nature and can react with both acid as well as base.
Al2O3 can react with NaOH and also with HCl.
The nature is due to its amphoteric nature.
