an aqueous solution containg 1.70g of cane sugar in 100ml water begins to freeze at -0.093 degre centigrade. the cryoscopic constnt of water is 1.86 k kg mole inverse . calculate the molecular mas of cane sugar?

We know
ΔTf = Kf M i

ΔTf = depression in freezing point
Kf = molal cryoscopic constant = 1.86
M = molality of the solution
i = Van’t Hoff factor = 1

depression of freezing point is (0- (-0.093)) = 0.093
So ΔTf = 1.86 X M X 1 = 0.093
So, M = 0.05

Molality of the solution is 0.05
 1000 ml of solution contains 0.05 mol
  1  ml of solution contains 0.05/1000  mol
100  ml of solution contains (0.05/1000)X100 mol = 0.005 mol
 Hence 0.005 mol = 1.70 g
  1  mol = 1.70/0.005 g = 340 g

So molar mass of cane sugar is 340 g/mol
