An athlete always runs some distance before taking a Jump . WHY ????

An athelet always runs before jumping 2 gain momentum.This helps in jumping higher and longer as d rate of change of momentum bcumes less nd dat is why he can jump higher nd longer wid the same amount of force.

An athlete always runs some distance before taking a Jumping  coz there will be friction in his shoes..to overcome the friction he runs fast and jumps..
