An inclined plane is made on a table. A pencil cell is made to slide down the inclined plane. It travels some distance on the table and stops. Now, some sand is spread on the table and the cell is again  made to slide down the inclined plane. After sand, jute is kept on the table and again the cell is made to slide down the plane.

On which of the two (sand and jute), will the distance travelled by the cell will be more???
pls I want answer urgently!!

Dear student
Please find the solution to the asked query:

In case when sand is spread on the floor, the friction offered will be less compared to jute and hence the  cell will cover more distance. The friction is caused by the interlocking of irregularities in the two surfaces.
So the force of friction is greater if a rough surface is involved.
