In this excerpt from 'The Diary of Ann Frank', Ann talks about her loneliness. She says that despite being surrounded by her friends and family, there is no body in the world with whom she could share her deepest thoughts. She decided to write all of her thoughts in a diary since she was sure that nobody would ever be interested in the musings of a teenage girl. She named her diary 'Kitty' which became her true friend. But unlike others, she made sure to write about her background first so that it would be easier for anyone to understand it later.
