(a) Killing as a mere source of entertainment is completely wrong and can never be justified. However, if one needs to kill to defend oneself it is completely justified. It is never wrong to kill another animal or even a human being for that matter if the latter poses threat to us or our life. You can add your own viewpoints and ideas on the same thread of thought for your answer.

Animals come in many species. To kill an animal is not the same as murdering an animal. No matter what a person personally believes the right to kill lends itself to the laws that surround the animal itself. Some examples, let’s take the American family pet for example. A young child would walk around with her cat, holding the cat by the neck not knowing the cat was not able to breath. The young child loves the pet and the cat did not fight back out of love for the child, yet the cat dies. A youth boy kills a dog out of curiosity. It was his own pet. This boy knows right from wrong, yet he still kills the pet. The family dog sick with cancer, was put to sleep to prevent suffering. A man comes across a dog with rabies in the woods. He shoots the dog. So many factors go into why animals are killed but out of all these examples, which is murder? The boy who murdered his dog. Usually when a person tortures and kills an animal it is a big hint to a psychological disorder.

No it is not right. Because the animal that is to be killed is also a living entity. It also has some life, will suffer pain, has feelings like us. According to a holy book we are not supposed to kill any pronouncing living body.
