A mitochondrion is composed of two lipid membranes, enclosing the matrix. The inner membrane gets folded to form numerous cristae. Cristae are the main site for ATP production.
- Mitochondrial matrix is a space which is surrounded by the inner mitochondria membrane. It contains mitochondrial DNA and ribosomes.
- F0-F1 particles are seen in matrix and cristae of mitochondria. They help in protein synthesis.
